Free Family Event Lets Kids Become Junior Rangers at Beloved Nature Coast Park

Families seeking an engaging outdoor adventure should mark their calendars for the upcoming Junior Ranger Jamboree at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This annual event, held in celebration of Kids to Parks Day, offers children the opportunity to become Junior Rangers by exploring Florida's natural and cultural treasures.

Participants can earn their Junior Ranger badge and collect stamps toward a Junior Ranger pin by engaging in various activities.

The park, renowned for its diverse wildlife, is home to manatees, black bears, bobcats, and alligators.

During the Jamboree, young visitors can enjoy nature walks, educational programs, and hands-on experiences designed to foster a connection with the outdoors.

Multiple activity stations, staffed by rangers from a dozen different Florida State Parks, will provide insights into the state's unique natural and cultural resources.

Activities will take place in the park's Garden of the Springs area.

Admission to the event is included with the park entrance fee: $13 for adults (ages 13 and up), $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under.

For more information, contact the park office at 352-423-5600.

Don't miss this chance to immerse your family in the wonders of Florida's wildlife and inspire the next generation of nature enthusiasts.
